Book on pedagogy for fathers with a stunning binding, from a library of the Belgian king Leopold II.

 

Small 8°, [4 pp.], VIII, 268 pp., contemporary red hard-grained morocco with gilt and blind tooling and lettering, gilt floral turn-ins, gilt edges, white moiré paper end-papers, red silk bookmark (minor age-toning to the upper part of the binding and inner parts of end-papers, tiny damage to the bookmark, but otherwise in a good, clean condition).

A rare book in French language gives instructions to fathers of children on importance of education and explains the methods, how to teach children reading, writing, grammar, history, science, languages,…

The book comes from a private library of king Leopold II of Belgium (1835 – 1909) with the supralibros “À S.A.R. monseigneur le duc de Brabant” referring to his title before becoming a king in 1865.
