Description

The novel was introduced to Bengali as a new genre of prose in the middle of the 19th century and gained popularity in 1865 with highly influential Durgeshnandini written by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay. The motifs of Bengali novels soon centered on contemporary life.

Our book, written by an author and medical doctor Taraknath Gangopadhyay (1843-1891) describes the contemporary domestic life and is dedicated to Indranath Bandyopadhyay (ইন্দ্রনাথ বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়, 1849-1911), a humorous and satirical writer.
