Princess Poon Pismai Diskul (1895-1990), Author; Phra Rajadharm Nides, Translator.
Bangkok: Times Pres Ltd., B. E. 2472. November 1929.
Princess Poon Pismai Diskul (1895-1990) was an influential figure among Buddhists in Thailand and worldwide. She served as the president of the World Fellowship of Buddhists from 1964 to 1984.
Poon Pismai Diskul was born to Prince Damrong Rajanubhab (1862–1943), one of the sons of King Mongkut (Rama IV). Damrong Rajanubhab later became the Minister of the Interior and is regarded as the founder of modern education in Thailand. Poon Pismai Diskul received an education that included subjects such as history, geography, and archaeology, and she was well-traveled.
In this work, Princess Poon Pismai Diskul introduces the basics of Buddhism, including the virtues and prayers, to children in clear and fluid language.
This translation of the original text into English, completed by Rajadharm Nides, was introduced to “bring the work to the attention of foreign friends.” It has since become a classic work for Buddhist education for children and has been reprinted in subsequent decades.
We could only trace later editions on Worldcat.
