Small 8°. 31 pp. lithographed text, original tan wrappers (wrappers dusty, with small tears, folds, ink stains and lines, folds in corners, internally clean, with minor foxing and sporadic annotations).

The preface outlines a progressive pedagogy attributed to a teacher named Cevdet Efendi, tracing a student’s learning path from basic letter recognition (Elifbâ) to the reading of complex treatises on morality and ethics (ahlâk risâlesi). The final chapter concerns correct pronunciation. This edition is described as a “second printing” (def’a-i sâniye), revised into an even more accessible and simplified arrangement (dahâ eshel tertîb) for novice readers.

Printed in Tuna Vilayet, in present-day Bulgaria, the pamphlet was produced under the supervision of the Cem‘iyyet-i Tedrîsiyye-i İslâmiyye (Islamic Educational Society), which would later become a patron of studies for children who had lost one or both parents.
