Description
This first Slovenian translation of a French novel Scènes de la vie future by Geogres Duhamel (1884-1966) from 1930, was published in Ljubljana in 1932 in a series of contemorary novels, with a cover design by Janko Omahen (1898-1980).
The designer Janko Omahen was studying technical drawing in Prague (19919/20) and architecture as a pupil of Jo_e Ple_nik and Ivan Vurnik in Ljubljana (graduated in 1927). Already from 1925 he was active as a poster and book designer of De_elna tiskarna company. From the beginning of the 1930s until the beginning of WWII in Yugoslavia, in 1941, he was running a designer studio together with Domicijan Serajnik. They were specialised in interior design and they have produced many interiors of cafés and bookshops, as well as designs for book covers, postcards, flags, posters, and architectural elements. Their style was a mixture of Art-Deco and traditional Slavic decoration.
