Description
The detailed sea chart of the coast of Guyana embraces the area between the border with Surinam and south-east to the border with Brazil and close to the mouth of the Amazon. Two in-set maps present the island Cayenne and the French Fort on it.
The map was made by a Dutch cartographer Johannes van Keulen (1654 – 1715), who was working in amsterdam. His most known works are sea atlases Zee-Atlas and Zee-Fakkel (Sea Torch). After Johannes’ death in 1715 his son, grand-son and great-grand son continued publishing sea atlases until 1801.
