Description

This nice little map is fine artifact of late Czarist Moscow.  It was chromolithographed in two colours (orange and blue) in Moscow by P. A. Maksimova in 1908.  Every street is labeled and the outlines and names of major edifices and parks are featured, while tramlines are delineated in blue.  An inset in the lower right corner showcases the Kremlin.

The map is a fine example of contemporary ephemeral maps of the city, which were made as guides to visitors.  The map folds into its original grey paper wraps which feature notes on the map as well as advertisements of the publisher’s works.  Due the nature of there use, such maps are today quite scarce.
