8°. 66pp., [1], VIII musical scores, original brown card binding with printed title (binding slightly scuffed on the edges with repaired tears on the spine, repaired tear in the gutter of the frond endpapers, first two pages slightly age-toned, otherwise in a clean condition).

A rare first edition on Max Brod’s work on Israel’s music was published in Tel Aviv in 1951.

The author of the work was a Czech-born, German speaking Jewish author Max Brod (1884 – 1968). Brod, who escaper to Tel Aviv in 1939, when Nazis took over Prague, was known as a friend of Franz Kafka and a publisher of his works.

This is a rare first edition, originally issued in German language in Tel Aviv. In the same year an English translation has been published under a title Israel’s Music. The original German version has been reprinted in the next decades.
