The first edition of short stories by a Polish author Stanisław Wygodzki with a brilliantly illustrated dust jacket, drafted by a poster designer Marian Stachurski.

8°, 254 pp., [2 pp.], original wrappers with lettering, original dustjacket, dedication and autograph by the author on the title page (light age-toning, dust jacket slightly worn with tiny tears and holes around the edges, spine slightly age-toned, overall in a good condition).

Description

The Polish writer of Jewish origin Stanisław Wygodzki (1907-1992) was during WWII interred in the Bedzin ghetto, in the concentration camps of Auschwitz, Dachau, Oranienburg and Sachsenhausen. After the war he moved to Israel.

The stunning dustjacket design was made by a polish designer Marian Stachurski (1931-1980), who studied at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts and was mostly known for his unusual movie posters.
