Description

Portrait of Thomas Maurice (1754–1824), a British oriental scholar and historian. He was also an assistant-keeper of MSS at the British Museum between 1798–1724. The stipple engraver was William Ridley (1764-1838), who engraved over 400 portraits and was also active as an illustrator.
