Description
Two cabinet cards, made around 1900 or in the first years of the 20th century in Sarajevo showcase a modern, well dressed young couple. The larger photo represents the pair before having a baby, and the smaller photo the same couple with a child.
Anton Schädler (?-1912) was an Austria-born photographer, who came to Sarajevo with the Austrian army around 1878. He was educated in a Viennese studio for reproductions C. Angerer & Göschl. Schändler lived in Sarajevo until his death in 1912 and was a recognized portrait photographer.
Schädler’s photos represent the vibrant international city Sarajevo, before the beginning of WWI.
