[Sudanese Women, Eunuchs and Warriors]
The author, the count Raoul du Bisson, was a French noblemen and adventurist, who, in 1863, travelled to Khartoum through Cairo, under a pretence to establish an agricultural colony for the culture of cotton. He got into trouble with authorities, when they discovered weapons among his luggage, including a cannon. Du Bisson also put himself in a difficult situation in Khartoum and Sudan and eventually achieved an expulsion by the Egyptian government. Upon his return to Paris he wrote this novel about his experiences Sudanese Women, Eunuchs and Warriors.
