Description
A rare theatrical broadside was made for a theater play Der Graf von Burgund by August von Kotzebue (1761 – 1819) performed at the National Theatre in Vienna (Hofburgtheater / Burgtheater) on March 15, 1832.
The role of Heinrich was played by a guest star Ferdinand Lang (1810–1882), who was a member of the imperial theater in Munich. In the same month Lang was featured in two other roles in the Hofburgtheater (Richard Gadermann, Ferdinand Lang: Fünfzig Jahre eines Künstlerlebens, 1877, p. 21).
The broadside mentions, that the stars of the theatre Therese Peche (1806–1882) and Ludwig Löwe (1795 – 1871) are indisposable.
The play Der Graf von Burgund was one of the most popular plays in Burgtheater in the early 19th century and was performed 47 times until 1832 (August Sauer – Reinhold Backmann, Sämtliche werke: Historischkritische Gesamtausgabe im Auftrage der Bundeshauptstadt Wien, 2, Vol. 3, 1917, p. 319).
