Description

A decorative bird’s eye view shows Zillertal in Tyrol in Austria, a popular hiking and skiing resort.

Bird’s eye views were popular in the map-making of the Alpine regions from the early 1920s on. One of the pioneers of the lithographed bird’s eye views was Josef Ruep (1889-1940), an enthusiastic pilot, who was inspired by the views when flying above the mountains.
