A title page of a German magazine Wieland, with a stunning image of a borzoi, printed in four colours, was made by a famous poster designer Lucian Bernhard (1883 – 1972).

Lucian Bernhard was born in Cannstatt at Stuttgart – in a Jewish family as Emil Khan. He was educated in Munich and Berlin, where he became a professor at the Akademie der Künste from 1920 until 1923, when he emigrated to New York City, where he worked as an artist until his death.

This title page is an add for Bernhard’s posters, made by a printing company Hollerbaum & Schmidt in Berlin, which was known for their progressive design. The poster with a Borzoi was also made in a larger version and is osten reproduces in modern literature on design.

The the text inside includes articles of and by Hermann Hesse, as well as beutiful colour reproductions of hie illustrations.
