Description

19 pieces: 13 pieces of textile (wool), each 30 x 30 cm (11.8 x 11.8 inches), originally mounted with brown tape on thin cards, each 68 x 50 cm (26.7 x 19.7 inches). 6 gouache drawings on thick paper between 46 x 32 cm and 62 x 44 cm (18.1 x 12.6 and 24.4 x 17.3 inches), one mounted on thin card, two with partly transparent guards.
Some sheets signed by the author. Overall in a good condition.

 

This is a collection of original drafts for various mid-century patterns to be used for decoration of textiles. The collection includes original gouaches on thick paper as well as larger samples of fabrics, mounted on cards

The author Ludmila Kavalla (1924-2015) was an Austrian designer, who in 1950 graduated in fashion design. She was married to Roman Hellmann (1921-2012) also a designer, with whom they ran until 1955 a designer studio “Hellmann-Kavalla”.
