A remarkable manuscript map of Trieste vividly illustrates the city during its pivotal development into one of the world's largest ports.   Black ink and water colours on paper, 129 x 195 cm (50.8 x 77 inches), contemporarily dissected into 24 segments and mounted on brown linen (minimal staining, but overall good).  

  This is probably the first map of Trieste, printed in Slovenian language at the Free Territory of Trieste after WWII, after the Slovenian language was supressed by the fascists for almost three decades.

  Very Rare – the first edition of an Admiralty chart that represents the first scientific survey of the port of Iasos, near Bodrum, on Turkey’s Aegean coast, site of a once great Greco-Roman port, by the esteemed hydrographer and naturalist Commander Thomas Graves.

  A very rare and fascinating separately-issued map of the Acropolis of the Pergamon, one of the greatest archaeological sites of Classical antiquity, located near modern Izmir, Turkey, based upon the pioneering excavations of the Deutsches Archäologisches Institut, plus more recent observations, with text in 5 languages, compiled by the conservator Aristodème G.     Extremely Rare – a highly sophisticated statistical mining and mineralogy atlas of the newly-founded Republic of Turkey, one of the earliest ‘Kemalist’ graphic scientific publications, and the first advanced thematic atlas ever produced in the Turkic world, printed in Ottoman Script shortly before that writing system was retired.

  A masterpiece of Art Deco design, being a large format separately issued map of Turkey with its railway systems, made during the height of the Kemalist Era when the republic’s railways were under the process of nationalisation and expansion, a key part of Atatürk’s political and economic agenda, published in Ankara – extremely rare.

  A gigantic rare Turkish poster for the memoires of the German Nazi politician Franz von Papen, which were banned in the post-war Germany, was made by a leading Turkish Female designer Gülümser Aral. This is a hand-numbered proof state with the author’s original signature in the upper left corner.
